Why join a Reflective Super-Vision group?

Liz and Doug discuss the benefits of joining a reflective Super-Vision group.

Would you like a regular opportunity to slow down and think about your professional practice as a leader?

Would you like to benefit from the wisdom of a group of fellow professionals, to share experiences, and to learn together about how to be at your best more of the time?

Would you like to become more responsive and less reactive to people and situations?

Then our Reflective Learning Super-Vision groups could be for you.

Professional coaches have used coaching supervision as a resource for ongoing professional and personal development for years. It is a fundamental pillar for maintaining best practice, resolving challenges, and celebrating successes. Importantly, through supervision, coaches are constantly learning about themselves as coaches, deepening their self-awareness, and improving their practice. Now, we are making this wonderful resource available to a wider professional audience. That includes YOU.

You may not have encountered this meaning of the term “supervision” before. The word may evoke an unhelpful and wrong impression—one of oversight; of superiors telling us how to do our work and then checking and assessing what we have done. Rest assured that this is not what our Super-Vision involves.

All too often, we are so busy “doing” that we become reactive. Unconscious reflexes and default settings drive our behaviour; we can get caught up in a cycle of old, familiar patterns of behaviour. Our blended Super-Vision groups intentionally slow the pace and introduce a pause in which we can allow our awareness of how we are behaving to surface. We can then access and reflect on a new set of perspectives—new lenses through which to look at and explore the day-to-day experiences of being a coach, a leader, or a team member. Hence the name, “Reflective Learning Super-Vision”. These new perspectives create new options and generate a conscious useful responsiveness. These new perspectives emerge through a variety of means, including tapping into the collective wisdom of the group. Our groups positively impact participants’ energy, resilience, relational presence, sense of calm, confidence, and self-awareness.

Participants tell us:

“The slowing down—at first I thought ‘let’s get on with it, this is too slow’ and then I realised that slowing down was what I needed. This is about the only place in which I slow down and reflect about my coaching and life.”

“I get a lot from listening to the others’ experiences and reassurance from this that I’m on track and I’m okay.”

“There is a calm space that these sessions take me to. These sessions remind me what calmness is like.”

“We have a space here in which we are improving individually and collectively.”

For those of you who have joined our Seasonal Reflections, you will know how we co-create safe, spacious time to pause and reflect. How we invite the alignment of head, heart, and guts by paying attention to your embodied experiences and drawing inspiration from images, metaphors, and other creative sources.

We introduce the same qualities of creativity, openness, trust, and non-judgement in our blended Reflective Learning Super-Vision group sessions. Over the series of sessions, each group grows together as we invite members to slow their pace and to make space for emergence of new insights and awareness.

Our Reflective Learning Super-Vision group take place online in person over zoom. Contact Doug or Liz to express interest or sign up.

Each Super-Vision Group comprised a maximum of 6 participants, co-supervised by Doug and Liz. The group commit to 6 sessions of 2 hours each at monthly or 2 monthly intervals with the dates and timings agreed to suit each group.
